Joyce, you will always be to me one of the most remarkable people I have ever met. For a tiny lady, you leave a huge hole. You accomplished so much: a career as a social worker, one of the first cohort of women to be ordained in the Church of England, and your unique place at the heart of your family, your enthusiastic love for each member evidently reciprocated. When I first met you through the Third Order of the Society of St Francis 10 years ago, you were one of the first people to go out to me and befriend me, we clicked straight away, and your warmth, encouragement, and affirmation - as well as our shared love of cheese scones and cake - made you a wonderfully cheering and human Novice Guardian. You always had time, an empathetic ear and word in all circumstances, and I realise as I write that above all you imparted the sense that you believed in me. You have been, and will continue to be, a big influence on me, and I will try to do something with all your good that rubbed off on me. Until we meet again - much love, Rosie XXX
